Review: Mountadam Vineyards – The Red (2007)

The Red from Mountadam Vineyards

The Wine Review:

Pours out of the bottle with a deep red colour. It has a pleasant fruity Cabernet nose and hints of French oak (present but not overdone). The aroma pulls you in telling you to give it a taste. The taste itself gives a medium-bodied mouth feel with smooth integrated tannins. There are dark fruit flavours and a little capsicum, pepper and slightly earthy. A great value buy.

Key Wine Descriptions:

Powerful Dark Fruit,Plumy Pepper, Vanilla Elagant, Smooth

Notes from the winemaker:Comprising 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, this is a distinctive blend of the best red wines from the Mountadam estate.

Colour: Deep red with a vibrant purple hue

Bouquet: Elegant new French oak complements the piquant and ripe fruit characters

Palate: Very stylish tannin structure, balanced to the delicate yet intense fruit flavours, with hints of ripe red cherries, capsicum and liquorice

Cellar: Up to 2019

Food Match: Pairs beautifully with rich, flavourful steaks, like rib-eye, porterhouse, sirloin and T-bone. It is also a classic match to lamb dishes or rich cheeses like Gruyere.
