Review: Mommessin – Chateau de Pierreux Brouilly (2013)

Chateau de Pierreux Brouilly from Mommessin

The Wine Review:

Was looking for something a bit different and have been exposed to a few Frenchies recently but still remain fairly uneducated overall. Scoping out the bottleshop saw this Chateau de Pierreux Brouilly 2013 for $20 (which is a good price point for experimentation). Cherry, Earthy Smoky acetone on initial pour. Red fruit raspberry and quite high acidity. Savoury especially initially, cherry/red fruit then a bit of an odd leathery finish. Length is a bit short would be nice with more body but that might be my bias for heavy reds. The funny finish is helped with salty snacks (wasabi peas and coated peanuts…. can you tell I’m Asian?)
